Army Risk Assessment

Army risk assessment is an important task. Every soldier learns a lot of things and foremost among them is being safety-conscious.

Army officers always begin their day with reminders on safety. Their heads always give them briefing before they start off with their duties or assignments. It may feel redundant to the officers, but that kind of briefing is very crucial.

So what comprise army risk assessment and safety procedures? Army risk assessment is all about studying the different factors related to the operation. Some factors to be considered are area of operation, proficiency of the officers assigned to the operation, and what armaments or equipments available are best used in the situation. All of these have effect on the total outcome.

If an officer’s assessment shows that the operation is risky, heads will implement possible alternatives to lessen the level of risk. This could include moving into another location or using different equipment and gears. They are also taught to be aware of their own safety and to always assess situations. Officers are encouraged to take action if they see any situation that seems a security threat. They are instructed to report such a situation immediately.

The training before going to military operations is of vital importance. But even if the officers have trained beforehand, their training is an on-going process. There is so much to learn that there is always a new technique to learn or a more effective method to follow.

After the operation, officers are supposed to check and assess the damages incurred. This includes checking on the team if every officer is present and doing all right or not. When the assessment is done, a report will be made to the superiors.

Risks are everywhere. There is a saying “In every step there is danger.” So wherever we may be, we cannot simply be ignorant of risks. We have to be always aware and be like soldiers in their army risk assessment.
